Crossroads

I'm at a wargaming crossroads. I have burned out of modern, Napoleonic, and RCW and don't know where to go. Help Me.

Here are my options:

6mm WWII
1/72 WWII
54mm WWII
 54mm ACW
Or Harold's Rangers wargaming rules by the owner of The Toy Soldier Company and controller of Harold's Rangers blog. I will admit this is the one I am tempted to refocus on but have not decided.
Does anyone else ever experience these crossroads? I do every couple months.

  1. It happens to us all Ben. I have long since given up trying to paint an entire 'army' in one go, and settle for doing a unit at a time of apparently random forces - see the "Diversity" post on my blog a few weeks ago. The 25mm Romans on my table at the moment are probably somewhat confused by the presence of a 1/32 field kitchen and a 1/72 Sukhoi Su-15......

    1. Thanks Tim, I re found your post and it's quite interesting, though I'm not that bad yet. Perhaps I could use a little more moderation and not burn out in the first place.

  2. Ben,
Try something new out. I like the smaller minis for larger scales so my 1:72 scale WWII guys are for 1:1 skirmish while my 15mm guys are squads and my 6mm guys are platoons. (although lately I've tried something new and played games in larger scales.

May I recommend trying Volley and Bayonet Rules with 54mm ACW? Inexpensive and alot of fun too.

MicroArmor is also very very addictive!

  3. Spearhead for WW2 6mm wargaming is superb.

Why not try 6mm ACW? Get the big battles in!

Or something completly different - Dark Ages, Crusades, Ancients, Medieval, Renaissance, 7 YW, 30YW...there's loads of options to consider.

    1. Thanks Phil, I've considered a Macedonian army in the past and have some partially completed late war Roman and German armies. The problem is is that I don't want to start a new era just now. I will look into spearhead though. Thanks for reading

    2. I also thank you all for following and commenting. A blog without readers would be pretty boring, I realized this is my 41st post today. It's been fun and time has passed by quickly.
