Panzer Grey!

Here's a little something I just finished for my freshly opened Easter Front project. All of these in this post are repaints, you'll probably recognize some. I think they look better like this though anyway.

I plan [lol!] to construct a generic 1942-early 43 panzer battalion scaled down to approximately 1:3...eventually.

I'm thinking PSC PzIV, AurmorFast PzIII, and Pegasus Pz38 for the medium and light companies.

Anyway, these little pieces will give me a head start.
Dragon Models' double pack SDkfz-222. Very nice kits if you have the patience to put them all together; like most Dragon stuff I suppose.

Sorry the headlights have gone askew.
These two vehicles will, for now, represent the reconnaissance company of the battalion.
Remember the last time I posted these I added the crew form the Hat tank rider set.
Up next are the ArmourFast PvIV. Unfortunately I don't have a PSC kit to compare it to but that will probably be taken care of by early November! I have two of these kits that I did a long time ago. The one was painted in the German yellow/tan and the other in some ridiculous camo I "invented." I'm not positive if they are the correct model of PzIV to use on the eastern front at that time, but for me they work for now.
Overall they are a nice kit. As you can see they are good for giving a nice clean, crisp general  impression  of the vehicle.  But at second glance very few details are present. These two are straight out of the box.

I left off the hull mounted MGs, oops.

Here is where the biggest problem with this particular kit is, no suspension at all! Also very thick one piece road wheels. This is a good thing though for uses such as wargaming, the entire track assembly is one piece for each side.

Have a good weekend.

  2. Those kits have come out lovely- really like them. Dragon do some lovely kits though I fear sometimes they are too fragile for gaming with. Either that or I've got fat clumsy figures... :)

    Cheers,

    Pete.

    1. Thanks Pete, I've not gamed with these 222s yet but have with some of Dragon's modern vehicles, I did lose a Bradly's barrel once but other than that not too much trouble. These armored cars feel a bit fragile though, time will tell.

    1. Thanks Thanos, I think Dragon's kits are worth the effort of non-fastbuild. I've grown to like these, especially the double packs such as the HMMWVs and now these. Their Challenger tanks I've posted in the past are extremely easy to build and are still quite detailed.

  7. Ben,
I like how the models turned out. You might want to consider playing GHQ's MicroArmour Rules. I really love how the battles turn out and it's only a slight adjustment to the statistics to accommodate higher bases.

    Great work, as usual!

    1. Thanks for the tip. If their rules are half as good as their models I'm sure they're great. I just found their WW2 TOE page yesterday, wow that's a great resource!

  8. I like the weathering you have done on them. Inspiring collection. I'm just staring to collect a few Tiger tanks. You have fine suggestions for me here Ben.I like what I'm seeing.:P

  9. Thank you Shriff! I weathered these with a very, very, light drybrush of khaki. I had never tried that technique, it was almost a grinding motion. I'm pretty happy with the result, nearly airbrush looking up close. Good luck on your Tigers, the only one I have is the old Airfix 1/76 scale kit. I think I will need some more eventually!
