A Chinese company known as Model Collect has been making news with the Ultra-Modern hobby world lately. I first stumbled across them on Ebay months ago when they were pre-order only, but Al from the post war forum (in the sidebar) actually ordered some of them successfully a couple weeks ago so I had to give it a try as well!
It is not a scam, and they are actually very nice kits. I got the special introductory versions which were only about $13 USD each with free shipping, but I see now that the price has been raised rather dramatically. I have seen that some T-72 kits, as well as some T-80 models are planned in the future.
I was curious about the quality etc of the kits when I ordered, so I figured I would share some shots I took of mine in case you are interested.
Here is each sprue.
There were three of this sprue in each kit, no worries about lost road wheels now! |
This was made of cast metal. It is also high quality. The road wheels are in two pieces, and when glued together fit perfectly on the posts that stick out, no glue needed! |
For the first time in my life there are tracks that hold a bond with super glue!!!!! |
I'm doing now this kit and you are right. very nice kit. like a Dragon or Trumpeter.. full detail.. nice fitting.. qualty mold..
ReplyDeleteErhan..
I will be ashamed when compared to your version! I look forward to seeing it!
DeleteWell now I simply must get that kit... I must do something quick with my 18th century guys because the call of moderns is loud in my ears... especially since I got Arma II the free version (I love it I can be the general the soldier or of coarse create)
ReplyDeletethen again perhaps the game can control my desire to go modern long enough to do something with the 18th century. as for the T-90 if only they could actually give it half decent composite armour like the challenger 2 or the Abrams.
That is good news :D
DeleteI do recommend this, it should seem easy when compared to the multiple rocket launcher you built for a first kit!
I would love to get this one, and a BM-21 the more modern version of my first kit. it would be fun to fut them all up against the challenger tanks I have.
DeleteGreat stuff. Hate building kits myself but you definitely have knack of building them.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
Thanks Pete!
DeleteHonestly I'm not into kits as much either as far as enjoying them. I do like to have them done much more than I do building them. I've just been trying to get as much of these projects out of the way as I can over vacation, this stuff was beginning to pile up! What an awful thing to have to deal with :D
Cheers for this Ben, a very good review and endstate. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul! I got the other three done now. I can take on the Abrams now!
