WW2









My Napoleonic project stalled on the last battalion! I have been working on these for a change, and now am quite interested in WW2 again. I've been refinishing old kits I did in the past (the Panther was a more recent build though). The Hanomag and Cromwell are old Armorfast kits with a lot of home-made details to make them just a bit prettier. I will order some crew figures and supporting British and German infantry from AB figures in the UK just as soon as the owner returns from holiday!

I also have a Jagtiger by Dragon that I have been attempting a late war "ambush" camo on, it is very difficult for me!

    Jagdtiger is a nasty kitty cat. How did you do the weathering on the Cromwell? Your fans would like a tutorial!!!

      The Jagtiger would be a good match for my M5 Stuart!

      The Cromwell was kind of a mess; there was the basic green with one highlight on the centers of the panels, and then a mostly black enamel pin-wash, then some spots of a thin brown, oil wash, then finally an acrylic tan wash in odd corners as dust.

      There were a lot of layers before I was happy with the result!

      Thanks Pete. I was especially happy with the Panther so far: I think the trick for me is a brown oil wash; it does wonders on dark yellow! Thanks for looking!

    Just a note on the Panther. Current concensus seems to be that heavy blackening / sooting of WW2 era tank muzzle brakes is not historically accurate. You will find plenty of discussion on various modelling forums...

    really nice stuff. for me all progress is stalled. I have a building (ruin) I have been meaning to show for weeks but I just have not had the time or motivation I am hoping that I might feel better this weekend.

      Thanks! The Armorfast kits can look pretty good with a little extra help. The tracks are still very basic though, I don't know how to solve that one.
