Well I decided to start a box of the main, smaller elements of my large projects, hopefully this will inspire me to actually finish something!
Anyway, first up were the Iraqis I started a while back, I had to complete about 6-7-8 more figures and base them to have my platoon.
The platoon is in the Soviet style, these are Republican Guard thus the fancy camo when most others would be wearing green PJs.

The box. Iraqis are right in the middle, off to their right is a French Infantry Rgt which is right above some Don Cossacks. To their left is a mounted Chasseur Rgt, above is half of the 1st/95th Rifles! |
Sorry for the somewhat poor pictures, I took them too late in the day.
|
The most diverse squad camo-wise. DPM, Blotch, and Desert DPM are all present! |
|
The second figure here is my favorite, Hat US tank rider head on an ESCI body. Drum magazine added of course ;) |
|
A little more standard: All wear desert DPM. |
|
I'm not sure if the Iraqis would have used the RPG-26. I had to use the Orion figure because I thought I didn't have any more "standard" RPGs. |
|
Most of these have Hat US Tank Rider heads. |
|
The platoon leader and a sniper/assistant. |
|
One of my favorite desert DPM examples. |
|
A little blotch and desert DPM. |
Thanks for looking.
Nice guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil!
Deletenice work, I think that having a little projects box always help motivate you to complete a project! works for me atleast
ReplyDelete"LITTLE," that way I have to finish stuff before moving on! Thanks Gowan.
DeleteThose mounted Chasseurs look especially interesting, can we vote on what is next!?!
ReplyDeleteActually there is a reason I have not continued with them! I need some red paint for the facings. On the good side though, I'm slowly switching to "craft" paint with a good undercoat and sealer, that way all I have to do is swing by the super store. They're probably next so save your vote!
DeleteDPM does not look bad at all. Not bad on the conversions either, although I can't really be a judge because I haven't done too many myself, but they still look pretty damn good.
ReplyDeleteThanks Austin, I'm pretty happy with them for the most part. I've only recently found that converting is a very satisfying, entertaining way to get the stuff I need. Gowan [above] has done some converting with leads but I wouldn't know where to start with anything but plastic!
DeleteThe tidiest project box ever Ben!
ReplyDeleteAlso Paul, blogger seemed to have hidden your comment! But thanks, and I don't think my box will be tidy for too long!
ReplyDeleteVery nice conversions Ben. These are unique figures. Haven't seen anyone making Republican Guards.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shriff, it would be nice if some companies made these neglected sets, but converting gives me something to do in the meantime!
