Here is a pre-1812 British Light Dragoon I finished today. This one is just a test figure, I have the other eight waiting to be painted to make a regiment.

Here is my unsuccessful vignette for the latest
Benno's Figures Forum painting contest: I lost big time but did learn a couple lessons.
- Don't get too close to the peice I'm photographing.
- Take the picture outdoors when possible.
- Make sure the picture is correctly sized!

These are not the pics I used for the contest, I took these today. |

Foamboard base and wall: the former being covered in sand and the latter in thinned clay. |
I hope you enjoyed today's update!
Is that one of HaT's Peninsular War light dragoons?! Did you get a pre-production spruce?
ReplyDeleteI'm envious! Nice work!
I too was wondering who the manufacturer is?
ReplyDeleteHello Rosbif and Fitz, I so wish I had the Hat set. These are actually conversions using the old Airfix horse artillery and the newer set of Zvezda Hussars: I removed the dolman but left the peg in the hole still. I embedded a hot staple in the harder Zvezda plastic throat of the figure, sharpened the end and stuck it in the soft Airfix head. Hope you all like them!
DeleteThat's a sweet bit of conversion! Was it the Zvezda Russian hussar set you used?
DeleteThat is a very convincing conversion! Huzzah!
DeleteThank guys! Yes Rosbif, that is from the excellent Zvezda Russian Hussar set: it felt a bit odd chopping up such beautiful figures, but I'm happy with the result. Glad you all enjoyed.
DeleteVery nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian! These were kind of fun to do.
Deletegreat work Ben that is some very nice work there, I like the dio but I can see the problems you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gowan, hopefully the next one will be a bit better. I'm glad you liked them.
DeleteVery nice, specially for me the last two pictures...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Phil, both projects have been fun to do.
DeleteGood work Ben.The first photo with the background looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shriff! The mountain is actually a stump in my yard! I thought it was pretty effective. Thanks for looking.
