12th Light Dragoon, ~1809 and a Modern Vignette

Here is a pre-1812 British Light Dragoon I finished today. This one is just a test figure, I have the other eight waiting to be painted to make a regiment.
Scouting out the Coa!

"Heroes"
Here is my unsuccessful vignette for the latest Benno's Figures Forum painting contest: I lost big time but did learn a couple lessons.
  • Don't get too close to the peice I'm photographing.
  • Take the picture outdoors when possible.
  • Make sure the picture is correctly sized!

These are not the pics I used for the contest, I took these today.

Foamboard base and wall: the former being covered in sand and the latter in thinned clay.
I hope you enjoyed today's update!

  1. Is that one of HaT's Peninsular War light dragoons?! Did you get a pre-production spruce?

    I'm envious! Nice work!

  2. I too was wondering who the manufacturer is?

    1. Hello Rosbif and Fitz, I so wish I had the Hat set. These are actually conversions using the old Airfix horse artillery and the newer set of Zvezda Hussars: I removed the dolman but left the peg in the hole still. I embedded a hot staple in the harder Zvezda plastic throat of the figure, sharpened the end and stuck it in the soft Airfix head. Hope you all like them!

    2. That's a sweet bit of conversion! Was it the Zvezda Russian hussar set you used?

    4. Thank guys! Yes Rosbif, that is from the excellent Zvezda Russian Hussar set: it felt a bit odd chopping up such beautiful figures, but I'm happy with the result. Glad you all enjoyed.
